Fred Waits By The Fountain

I’ve always thought that my blog posts were like buses. You wait 2 years for a post and then 3 come along at once.

It’s been rather a long hiatus since I joined in with Friday Fictioneers, but having read some of the stories this week, I’d been looking forward to joining in again. I’ve been away, but now I’m back.

Thanks to David for the photographic inspiration, and to Rochelle as ever for hosting. Click here to read this week’s stories. Read on to see my effort.

Fred Waits By The Fountain

8pm, he’d proposed. Early enough for the warmth of the early summer’s day to still be lingering, and late enough for the skies to be kissed by night.

Fred had been there since 6pm of course.

He’d so enjoyed their first date, and had eagerly anticipated this opportunity for months. Sure, renting a town square had been pricy, and installing a large mechanical flower in the centre of the fountain had been logistically challenging to say the least, but she was definitely worth it.

Dusk became night.

Her train was probably late, he mused, and people often forget their phones.

Eyes not what they once were, or just curious to hear me read it? Take a listen here.
