Timmy Hears a Rumour

β€œThe farmer has a shotgun you know?”

Timmy looked nervously at the farmhouse as they stomped flat the grassy track.

Jack leaned in.

β€œI’ve heard that too. In fact, Billy’s sister Jean, you remember her from swimming last summer, right? Well her best friend Sarah had a cousin who’s teacher’s son found out the hard way. The story was all over the news and his brains, well they were all over the barn. It never used to be painted red. They kinda had to do that.”

Timmy’s footsteps quickened to a sprint as brother Jack fell into the clover laughing.

The kid’s a good liar for someone so young. The cousin I grew up with was 4.5 yrs older than me and she loved scaring me with these kinds of stories.

Honestly, rumor or no, there’s a good chance it could be true so I’m keeping my distance!

    Dear Mr. B.

I’m guessing Jack is the older brother. They’re good for scaring their younger siblings. I know my older brother was adept at it. πŸ˜‰ Love this and I enjoy hearing you read.

This was a good story. I wonder if everyone reading this can’t remember back to a time when they were Timmy and hearing fantastical stories.
