Brian’s Blue Sky Thinking

“Remember guys, there are no wrong answers, let’s just shoot the breeze and throw stuff at the wall and see what sticks. Anything that’s not a goer straight away we’ll stick on the back burner. OK, hit me!”

Brian wished that he could.

He made himself small, as a tornado of crap flew around his ears. Backslapping and nodding this way and that.

“Brian we haven’t heard from you. Remember, no wrong answers. Go!”

Brian blinked.

“erm, how about listening to the customer? See what they need from us?”

The man in the sharp suit looked dumbfounded.

“No, Brian. NEXT!”

Hey, Listen

If you liked the story, I do hope you’ll give this a listen (it’s me, not AI!) to bring some extra colour to the tale.

Brian’s got a great future ahead of him in some other field. Politics maybe? Nah

  2. justjoyfulness

I’m sure the company sank 🙂 True story, I suppose 🙂

    Dear Mr. B,

See what the customer wants? Preposterous. I’d say there’s a company with a grim future. Good story.

    Shalom,

    Rochelle

The voice of reason always has to speak more than once! Great way to get a point across!

  5. James Pyles

This is where Brian gets thrown out of the window like in the meme.

Corporations and governmental institutions are where dreams go to die. I effin hate them. A story with a resounding ring of truth to it.

  7. Keith’s Ramblings

This took me back to my time in Sales Training, I met a few Brians!

  8. James McEwan

Listen to the customers? What customers? The ones going else where I expect.

  9. granonine

He was born out of his time. That USED to be an acceptable idea!

I have run many brain-storming sessions. This is too close to the truth. Nice work.

Oh, man! What a radical concept!
    It’ll never work.
    Loving your voice, Mr. B

      *shy face* Thanks!

I think I’ve been Brian a few times. Great description. I especially liked: “He made himself small, as a tornado of crap flew around his ears. Backslapping and nodding this way and that.”

      Thank you so much!

there are more brians out there. it’ll be a better world if they learn to speak up and stand up. then again, I suppose I’m asking too much.

  14. GHLearner

Why would anyone want to listen to customers. They’re supposed to leave their money, be quiet and not complain. Fun story, sadly far too true for many a company.

  15. Dawn M. Miller

LOL, relatable story. I’d say many of us have been there in one capacity or another.
