Lockdown Song Writing: Outside

Outside

The annual renewal for domain subscription was a flashing reminder that I have a blog to maintain, and given that I clicked the button that said “oh go on then, take another £30,” I figured I better actually write something.

GOOD NEWS! I already did. Not only that, but I gave it to a good friend of mine who then went and turned it into a great piece of music.

Question: Why are all my friends more talented, and have more drive than me?

Anyway, I hope to find enough creative inspiration to return to my keyboard for things other than work, and to begin writing in earnest once more. It’s been a while. Let’s see if I can remember how to do it. Until then, please take a read of my recent lyrics – and more importantly, go give Greg Lines‘ SoundCloud a listen.

OUTISDE

I remember you
The way you shone and always brought the light
Light up my life
With dance and song
For miles and miles and miles.

The energy I need.
With warmth enough to chase the blues away.

These days are long,
But I feel your touch
you will pull me through.

No, it won’t be forever.
We can make a difference.

And, I can’t wait to see you.
I can’t wait to breathe you in.
And, It just stands to reason,
That good times ‘ll roll, once again.

Looking out
At winding walks, and muddy boots, and kids at play.
The clock still ticks
But I’m just walking – rolling hills for days.

No burden too great
Carried inbetween
The strength we share

The seconds pass
Our hearts beat as one
With every single step

No, it won’t be forever.
We can make a difference.

And, I can’t wait to see you.
I can’t wait to breathe you in.
And, It just stands to reason,
That good times ‘ll roll, once again.

So we will stay
Together is stronger, within these walls.
A new hope.
When the rainbows end, the journey just begins.

And, I can’t wait to see you.
I can’t wait to breathe you in.
And, It just stands to reason,
That good times ‘ll roll, once again.
