Nelson Has the Midas Touch

Nelson rested against the tree, and as he did so he knew he’d done it again.
The wash of colour started at the roots before quickly spiralling up around the bark, through the branches and into the leaves.

Nelson stepped away from the vibrant foliage he’d created.
He’d been in a haze for days now, as this purple Midas affliction had taken over his life.

The heavens opened. The pitter patter against the canopy grew louder before giving way and crashing to the ground.

Nelson held out his hand as droplets splashed into his palm.

“Huh,” he smiled. “Purple rain.”

Hey, Listen.

Happy New Year everyone! I’ve taken a bit of a break from writing as I couldn’t muster the energy over the last month or so. But here I am, eager to get the new year started in a positive manner.

This piece is written for Friday Fictioneers, hosted by the ever-present Rochelle. Click here to read this week’s stories. Thank you to Lisa Fox for the photograph this week.

    Dear Mr. B,

What a Prince-ly story. 😉 A purple Midas touch? Imaginative and enchanting piece.

    Shalom,

Wonderful–a royal purple Midas touch 🙂

Like you, I’m back after a lengthy absence. Growing older is sometimes hard on one’s creaky old body, but I think I’m back to whatever “normal” is for me these days.
