Charlotte is Defiant

โ€œBleugh!โ€ Charlotte pushed the plate away in disgust.

Anna rolled her eyes. โ€œThis again?โ€

โ€œI donโ€™t like it. Iโ€™ve never liked it. Itโ€™s disgusting.โ€ Charlotteโ€™s tongue poked through her lips, so that mum got the message.

โ€œBut you liked it last week. In fact, you liked it so much that you asked me to get it this week. So I got it. For you.โ€ She pushed the plate back.

Charlotteโ€™s shoulders fell and she leaned back in her chair.

โ€œThat was tender stem,โ€ she said, defiantly.

โ€œBroccoli is broccoli. Youโ€™re six.โ€

Charlotte leaned forward, โ€œWhy is it more expensive then?โ€

That’s a unique take on the prompt – I’ll be surprised to see any similar. ๐Ÿ™‚ Good one. And yeah, kids can tell.

It was that or one of those (American?) inflatable people with the wiggly arms!

Like Rochelle my first thought was how cute it was that you saw broccoli!

  5. Dale

This one is so close to home for a coouple of reasons: 1) My daughter only likes the stem of the broccoli; and 2) I get SO pissed that they sell only the crown for more. Gimme the whole veggie, dammit!

    Sorry… Wonderfully done, Mr. B ๐Ÿ™‚

I love where you took this. Never heard of tender stem. We buy just Brokkoli where I live, stem and crown and all. Great dialogue too.
