Janette Frets

Janette was a worrier.

In the evening she’d worry about not getting enough sleep, or that she might miss her alarm, or (heavens forbid) not wake up at all.

In the morning she’d fret about the weather and what to wear. She’d fuss over missing the bus and being late for work; she’d hate to lose her job.

On Thursday at 9am her line manager announced a staff activity day. Axe throwing, raft building, rope climbing and bungee jumping.

At 9.15 Janette pulled a prewritten letter from her cardigan pocket and handed it to HR. It simply read, “I quit.”

It seems there were worse things than losing her job

I hope she has another job lined up else her anxiety will hit the roof.

A step too far! I think I’d worry about having to partcipate in that.

  4. James Pyles

Raft building wouldn’t be all that dangerous unless she was required to go out on a body of water upon that raft.

I wonder how long she’s had the letter in her pocket?

So much fretting …. so little time. She’s right to quit.
