Evan lights the fuse

The shouting match had been going on for at least 15 minutes. The kids had vacated the kitchen and sought the solace of YouTube and left them to it.

“The bowls go upside down. How many times have I got to tell you? It really isn’t rocket science. Christ, it isn’t even 5th grade science. Hell, it isn’t even science!”

“I did put them upside down. Lord knows I couldn’t ever forget one of your tedious dishwasher stacking lectures!”

Evan looked at the ceramic bowl sitting smugly upright full of dirty dishwater. He knew he had a choice to make.

It’s been a minute since I joined in. It turns out that creativity really does come from the heart. I’ve been struggling with heart health for about 15 months now and recently things became annoyingly worse.

The drugs stopped working their magic. I was breathless. Floundering for an opinion I could count on from the docs. Any sense of creativity I had simply… vanished.

Last week, with a change of medication, I’ve found a semblance of normal rhythm – not only in my heart but in my life. Fingers crossed it holds.

ANYWAY…

This is my story about fireworks. I hope you liked it. There are plenty more stories based on this photo from Roger Bultot and all you have to do is CLICK THIS LINK to read them. Have at it!

Well, obviously, the bowl moved in the dishwasher. Simple

    Dear Peter,

We have a running, albeit silent, dispute on how what goes which way in the dishwasher, so I related well to your story. Glad you hear you’re doing better. It’s always good to come by here for a read and a listen.

    Shalom,

    Rochelle

I can vouch for the fact that bowls have a life of their own. Just like socks that go missing in the washing machine.

Go with your heart, Evan. It will do you good. Glad you’re feeling better – I know how depressing that can be.

MrBinks, welcome back! Wishing peaceful heart rhythms with the new med.

    I truly loved this line:

“I did put them upside down. Lord knows I couldn’t ever forget one of your tedious dishwasher stacking lectures!

Such an insightful moment describing young Evan and the choices he will make based on family dynamics with his parents.

      Thanks so much!

        You are very welcome.

Great story. It’ls like my wife and I fighting over which way to position the toilet paper roll. It should spool out away from the wall, of course 🙂 My wife doesn’t agree.

    1. MrBinks

Of course it should be faced out away from the wall. IS SHE A MONSTER!?

      1. Will

        I know, right.

This little tale is too real! The kids disappearing and watching YouTube…the complaint about bowls, the exasperation of Evan and the grand finale, the final sentence. Your brain is working well my friend! I hope your heart follows.

I love this comment, thank you.
